Hucking.
Review: don't change your wrist/elbow throwing mechanics, throw to space, communicate with your cutter.
Drill: huck drill with defense.
Catching.
If possible, catch the disc with two hands. You can use either "pancake" catch or "claw" catch. Please try both types of catches during the first few practices and figure out which one is right for you.
When catching the disc, don't wait for it to come to you -- that's how people get D'd. Attack the disc, both by accelerating towards the disc with your legs and reaching for the disc with your hands. Your defense has a much easier task in that they don't need to catch the disc so frequently defenders will run past players who are slowing down to catch and just hit the disc away. Resist the temptation to prepare for the catch too early. Running with your hands out in front of you or in the air is not efficient and will only slow you down. Only reach out with your hands when you are ready to attack the disc and snatch it out of the air in one smooth motion. Finally, don't forget to watch the disc into your hands. A good trick is to try to read what is written on the top of the disc as you complete the catch.
Drill: grrr drill.
